Bradleys Awarded QUALICOAT Licence

Powder application

As the QUALICOAT Association continues to grow across the globe, facade supply chain companies in the UK and Ireland continue to adopt the standard.  Architectural powder coaters are requesting to have their plants and processes independently inspected and licensed to supply architectural coating to meet the growing specifier demand for QUALICOAT approved finishes.

Bradleys Metal Finishers are the latest company to join QUALICOAT UK & Ireland. Located in Ipswich, Bradleys is a family run business with over fifty years experience in professional coatings in a wide range of applications. The company already holds a QUALISTEELCOAT license for powder coating onto steel and with the awarding of a QUALICOAT license, Bradleys are the only company to hold both licenses in the UK. The awarding of a license to Bradleys Metal Finishers now brings the total number of QUALICOAT licensed applicators in the UK & Ireland to seventeen.

So why did Bradleys join QUALICOAT when they already have an enviable reputation for providing high quality powder coat finishes in the UK?

As the number of specifications for QUALICOAT architectural powder coating continues to rise, coming from Architects and Contractors alike, it is now quite common to see ‘QUALICOAT approved’ in facade specifications. Furthermore, QUALICOAT also insists that plant and processes are independently monitored by an independent test house prior to a license being awarded. In the UK & Ireland this is undertaken by IFO based in the Netherlands.

The benefit for Bradleys is that they can now also take on both QUALICOAT & QUALISTEELCOAT specifications which require coatings on both steel and aluminium, this can be achieved using the same batches of powder ensuring colour matching. As Bradleys state themselves, offering a QUALICOAT powder coating services gives specifiers and their clients peace of mind, assurance and helps retain the solid specification that is QUALICOAT.

Together with the option of substrates, Bradleys continue to bring a specific selection of High Grade Architectural quality finishes to the market which can be seen on their website at https://www.bradleysmetalfinishers.com/samples-2022/finishes-library/ Bradleys are very much integrated within the architectural finishing market working with Architects Contractors and Fabricators. They find their niche on the larger, high value, high end contracts where delivery of a consistent high quality finish and attention to detail is paramount. From the start Bradleys have been known for taking on the larger more challenging contracts and with the awarding of a Qualicoat licence this can now be extend further into the aluminium market in areas such as semi fabricated balconies and large cladding projects featuring Bradleys special finishes.

Bradleys see two future challenges for architectural coatings in the UK, first the need to ensure that the market can keep up with the increase in architectural metal coatings plus the challenge of powder colour matching of finished product when supplied from different coaters. By offering a wide range of high quality coating services, Bradleys hope to capitalise on this future trend.

The global QUALICOAT standard is incrementally revised in realtime with regular update sheets and is revised to include an update each year. The standard and update sheets are freely available for download at www.qualicoat.net.
