AluK Host QUALICOAT Training

The key to quality architectural coatings lies in its correct application, both the pretreatment system and the powder coating itself must be applied in the correct way and under a closely controlled process.  Crucial to this process is the monitoring and ongoing testing of the process.  Every QUALICOAT licensed applicators’ laboratory technicians must attend training every two years to ensure that all correct and up to date testing is carried out.  It is these monitoring and testing procedures that are checked twice annually, unannounced inspections from QUALICOAT’s recognised testing house.  Failure to meet these standards can leaded to a QUALICOAT approved applicator losing their licence.

IFO, based in the Netherlands, are the appointed independent inspectorate for QUALICOAT UK & Ireland, Mark Holz of IFO has set up the ‘IFO Academy’ specifically for the training of laboratory technicians.  The most recent training course was held at AluK in Chepstow, where twenty six delegates were offered training and updates to the latest, sixteenth edition, of the QUALICOAT standard.

Together with theoretical study, candidates reviewed up to date testing practices and equipment.  The one day training course was completed with a tour of the extensive AluK facility.

Copies of the new sixteenth edition of the QUALICOAT Standard, is available through the UK Association website, www.qualicoatuki.org together with an up-to-date list of approved Powder Suppliers, approved Pretreatment Suppliers and licensed Applicators.  Printed literature and telephone support is available from QUALICOAT UK & Ireland Head Office in Birmingham on 0330 236 2800 or email enquiries@qualicoatuki.org.  The Association can also be followed on Twitter @Qualicoatuki
